Edward Scissorhands is a 1990 American romantic fantasy film directed by Tim Burton and starring Johnny Depp. The film shows the story of an artificial man named Edward, an unfinished creation, who has scissors for hands. Edward is taken in by a suburban family and falls in love with their teenage daughter Kim. Supporting roles are portrayed by Winona Ryder, Dianne Wiest, Anthony Michael Hall, Kathy Baker, Vincent Price (his last theatrical performance), and Alan Arkin.

This is my favorite Tim Burton’s movie ever.

The Empire Strikes Back 34th Anniversary: Han and Leia

Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back (also known as The Empire Strikes Back) is a 1980 American epic space opera film directed by Irvin Kershner, produced by Gary Kurtz, and written by Leigh Brackett and Lawrence Kasdan, with George Lucas writing the film’s story and serving as executive producer.  The film is set three years after Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope. The Empire Strikes Back was released on May 21, 1980.

Han and Leia

Three years later in Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back,  Princess Leia now leads a contingent that includes Han Solo and Luke Skywalker in a hidden base on an icy planet of the Hoth system. She later helps with the evacuation of Hoth during an Imperial attack, remaining at her station until Han Solo forces her to leave with him. She flees with C-3PO, Han and Chewbacca on their Millennium Falcon ship. Although they are pursued by Imperial TIE fighters, they dodge their fire by flying into an asteroid field when the hyperdrive for the Falcon breaks down. Romance blossoms between Leia and Han during their flight from the Empire; while hiding in the stomach of a space slug, she finally shares a kiss with the Corellian smuggler. Later, when they stop at Bespin for repairs, Lando Calrissian turns them over to the Empire to which Darth Vader plans to use them as bait for Luke Skywalker. Han is also used as a test subject for the carbon freezing chamber meant for Luke, and it is there that Leia finally confesses her love for Han. Vader then gives the frozen Han to bounty hunter Boba Fett.

In the Rebel Alliance base on the small icy planet of the Hoth System…

Han: Well, Your Highness, guess this is it.
Leia: That’s right.
Han: Don’t get all mushy on me. So long, Princess.

Leia (running after him): Han.
Han: Yes, Your Highnessness.
Leia: I thought you had decided to stay.
Han: The bounty hunter we ran into in Ord Mantell changed my mind.
Leia: Han, we need you.

Han: We need?
Leia: Yes.
Han: What about you need?
Leia: I need? I don’t know what you’re talking about.
Han: You probably don’t.
Leia: What precisely am I supposed to know?
Han: Come on. You want me to stay because of the way you feel about me.
Leia: Yes. You’re a great help to us. You’re a natural leader.
Han: No. That’s not it. Come on. Come on.
Leia: You’re imagining things.

Leia: I don’t know where you get your delusions, laser brain.
Han (to Chewbacca): Laugh it up, fuzzball, but you didn’t see us alone in the south passage. She expressed her true feelings for me.

Leia: My… Why, you stuck-up, half-witted, scruffy-looking nerf herder!

Han: Who’s scruffy-lookin’?
Han (to Luke): I must have hit close to the mark to get her riled up like that, huh, kid?

Leia: I guess you don’t know everything about women yet. (Leia gives a kiss in Luke)

Leia: Would it help if I got out and pushed?
Han: It might.

Leia: This bucket of bolts will never get past that blockade.
Han: This baby’s got a few surprises left in her. Switch over. Let’s hope we don’t have a burnout. See?
