Game of Thrones Season 6 Episode 04 Book of the Stranger
No. 604. Title: Book of the Stranger. Directed by Daniel Sackheim. Written by David Benioff & D.B. Weiss. Original Air Date: May 15, 2016. Sinopse: Sansa, Brienne and Podrick arrive at Castle Black as the former is reunited with Jon Snow. At Winterfell, Osha attempts to assassinate Ramsay, but is killed herself in the process. Ramsay sends a letter to Jon, threatening harm to Rickon if Sansa is not returned. Jon resolves to march south and take back Winterfell. In Meereen, Tyrion meets with the slave masters of Slaver’s Bay to offer peace if they will end slavery within seven years, an action that angers Missandei and Grey Worm. Littlefinger returns to the Vale to mobilize their soldiers against Ramsay Bolton. In King’s Landing, Margarey is permitted to visit Loras while Cersei, Jamie, Kevan and Lady Olenna plan to stop the High Sparrow. Theon arrives at Pyke and explains to Yara that he will support her claim at the Kingsmoot. Daario and Jorah arrive at Vaes Dothrak, with the former discovering about the latter’s greyscale. Daenerys meets with the Khals and sets the temple on fire. When she emerges unhurt, the Dothraki bow to her.
In King’s Landing
Margaery is brought to meet the High Sparrow, who warns her to stay away from her life of riches and sin, and recounts his past of how, as a proud cobbler, he learned his wealth-guided pursuits were lies and that the shoeless poor were closer to the truth than anyone. He then takes Margaery to see Loras, who is breaking under the Sparrows’ torture, and is willing to do anything to make it stop.
MARGAERY: Loras. Listen to me. You need to stay strong.
LORAS: I can’t stay strong. I never was strong.
MARGAERY: You are strong. You are the future of our house, the future of our family.
LORAS: I don’t care about that.
MARGAERY: Shh! Shh. Have you– have you told them that? That you don’t care?
LORAS: I just want it to stop. Help me.
MARGAERY: They want me to help you. They want me to help tear you down. They want me to help tear you down. That’s why he’s letting me see you. I know it is. And if either of us give in to what they want, then they win.
LORAS: Let them win. Just make it stop. Please.
MARGAERY: All right.
Cersei meets with Tommen, who brings up the High Sparrow. Tommen is reluctant to provoke him, but Cersei says he is dangerous because he has no respect for the Crown. Tommen tells Cersei that Margaery’s walk of atonement will happen soon. Cersei relays the information to Kevan Lannister and Olenna Tyrell in the small council chamber. Tyrell insists that can’t happen and pledges her army to defeat the Sparrows. Kevan (whom Tommen has ordered not to attack) agrees to stand down his army when that happens, after Cersei says that by destroying the Sparrows he can have back his son Lancel, who is part of the order, and that Tommen will forgive him when he has Margaery back.
TOMMEN: I’ve been thinking about the High Sparrow.
CERSEI: As have we all, unfortunately.
TOMMEN: We need to be careful in dealing with such a man. To prevent things from escalating any further. We have to be careful not to antagonize him. He has Margaery. We can’t put her at risk. He’s dangerous.
CERSEI: Look at me. What did they do to me? To the king’s own mother? It’s all right. It’s done. It’s in the past. And of course Margaery’s safety is paramount.
TOMMEN: You don’t like Margaery, do you?
CERSEI: Whether I like her or not is completely unimportant. Margaery is the queen. Queens must command respect. Kings even more so. Not just for their own sake, but for everyone’s. The High Sparrow has no respect for kings or queens. No respect for anything in this world. He has no use for the things of this world. He wants to knock them down and replace them with what? With fantasies. With beggars in the street. With nothing.
TOMMEN: Mother… there’s something I want to tell you. Something the High Sparrow told me.
CERSEI: You’ve spoken with him?
TOMMEN: I promised him I wouldn’t tell anyone. If he found out I told–
CERSEI: It would be a breach of confidence which he would not take lightly given his constant prattling about the truth. I am your mother. You can always trust me.
OLENNA: My dear, you have been stripped of your dignity and authority, publically shamed, and confined to the Red Keep. What’s left to work with?
JAIME: Cersei is the mother of the king. She has the king’s ear and his trust. And the king has been speaking regularly with the High Sparrow about Queen Margaery and Ser Loras.
CERSEI: The High Sparrow seized power knowing full well we’d bicker amongst ourselves instead of seizing it back. Here we are. Well done to us. Now the future of the Seven Kingdoms rests in his dirty peasant hands. In a few days, he’ll have a trial for me. But before that, Queen Margaery will make her walk of atonement. Yes, Margaery will repent her sins before the good people of the city.
OLENNA: Oh, no. That cannot happen. That will not happen.
CERSEI: I agree.
