Evanescence – My Immortal

Click here to listen this song (midi cortesy Dream Gifs)

“My Immortal” is a song by American rock band Evanescence from their debut studio album Fallen (2003). It was released by Wind-up Records on December 8, 2003 as the third single from the album. The song was entirely written by guitarist Ben Moody, with the exception of the bridge, which was later written by lead singer Amy Lee, and it was produced by Dave Fortman.

“My Immortal” was included on their EP release Mystary (2003) and on the demo album Origin (2000). The version originally from Origin was later included on Fallen. The single version of the song was called “band version” because of the additional band performing the bridge and final chorus of the song. “My Immortal” is a piano rock song written in slow and free tempo. Moody was rumored to have been inspired to write it after the death of his grandfather. Lyrically, it talks about “a spirit staying with you after its death and haunting you until you actually wish that the spirit were gone because it won’t leave you alone.”

MY IMMORTAL

I’m so tired of being here
Suppressed by all my childish fears
And if you have to leave
I wish that you would just leave
‘Cause your presence still lingers here
And it won’t leave me alone

These wounds won’t seem to heal, this pain is just too real
There’s just too much that time cannot erase

When you cried, I’d wipe away all of your tears
When you’d scream, I’d fight away all of your fears
And I held your hand through all of these years
But you still have all of me

You used to captivate me by your resonating light
Now, I’m bound by the life you left behind
Your face it haunts my once pleasant dreams
Your voice it chased away all the sanity in me

These wounds won’t seem to heal, this pain is just too real
There’s just too much that time cannot erase

When you cried, I’d wipe away all of your tears
When you’d scream, I’d fight away all of your fears
And I held your hand through all of these years
But you still have all of me

I’ve tried so hard to tell myself that you’re gone
But though you’re still with me, I’ve been alone all along

When you cried, I’d wipe away all of your tears
When you’d scream, I’d fight away all of your fears
And I held your hand through all of these years
You still have all of me, me, me

I’ll Stand by You

“I’ll Stand by You” is a 1994 song recorded by The Pretenders from their sixth studio album, Last of the Independents. It was written by Chrissie Hynde in collaboration with the songwriting team of Tom Kelly and Billy Steinberg. The song is a power ballad that pledges love and faithful assistance in times of personal darkness and is my favourite song from this great band.

Listen I’ll Stand by You now (midi cortesy Dream Gifs).

Oh, Why you look so sad?
Tears are in your eyes
Come on and come to me now
Don’t be ashamed to cry
Let me see you through
Cause I’ve seen the dark side too.
When the night falls on you
You don’t know what to do
Nothing you confess
Could make me love you less

I’ll stand by you
I’ll stand by you
Won’t let nobody hurt you
I’ll stand by you

3

4

So,
If your mad, get mad
Don’t hold it all inside
Come on and talk to me now
But hey, what you’ve got to hide
I get angry too
But I’m a lot like you
When you’re standing at the crossroads
Don’t know which path to choose
Let me come along
Cause even if your wrong…

5

6

I’ll stand by you
I’ll stand by you
Won’t let nobody hurt you
I’ll stand by you
Take me in into your darkest hour
And I’ll never desert you
I’ll stand by you
And when,
When the night falls on you baby
Your feeling all alone
Walking on your own

7

8

I’ll stand by you
I’ll stand by you
Won’t let nobody hurt you
I’ll stand by you
Take me in into your darkest hour
And I’ll never desert you
I’ll stand by you
I’ll stand by you
Won’t let nobody hurt you
I’ll stand by you
Won’t let nobody hurt you
I’ll stand by you
I’ll stand by you
Won’t let nobody hurt you
I’ll stand by you

The Beatles – Nowhere Man

jeremy

rubber_soul“Nowhere Man” is a song by the Beatles, from the British version of their album Rubber Soul. The song was written by John Lennon (credited to Lennon–McCartney). It was recorded on 21 and 22 October 1965. “Nowhere Man” is among one of the very first Beatles songs to be entirely unrelated to romance or love, and marks a notable instance of Lennon’s philosophically oriented songwriting. Lennon, McCartney and George Harrison sing the song in three-part harmony. The song appears in the 1968 animation film “Yellow Submarine”, where the Beatles sing it about the character Jeremy Hillary Boob after meeting him in the “nowhere land”.

Lennon claimed that he wrote the song about himself. He wrote it after racking his brain in desperation for five hours, trying to come up with another song for Rubber Soul: “I’d spent five hours that morning trying to write a song that was meaningful and good, and I finally gave up and lay down. Then ‘Nowhere Man’ came, words and music, the whole damn thing as I lay down”. Source: Wikipedia.

Nowhere Man (Lennon/McCartney)

He’s a real nowhere Man,
Sitting in his Nowhere Land,
Making all his nowhere plans for nobody.
Doesn’t have a point of view,
Knows not where he’s going to,
Isn’t he a bit like you and me?
Nowhere Man, please listen,
You don’t know what you’re missing,
Nowhere Man, the world is at your command.
He’s as blind as he can be,
Just sees what he wants to see,
Nowhere Man can you see me at all?
Nowhere Man, don’t worry,
Take your time, don’t hurry,
Leave it all till somebody else lend you a hand.
Doesn’t have a point of view,
Knows not where he’s going to,
Isn’t he a bit like you and me?
Nowhere Man, please listen,
You don’t know what you’re missing,
Nowhere Man, the world is at your command.
He’s a real Nowhere Man,
Sitting in his Nowhere Land,
Making all his nowhere plans for nobody (3x)

November Rain

UseYourIllusion1“November Rain” is a power ballad by American rock band Guns N’ Roses, written by lead singer Axl Rose and released as a single in June 1992. It appears on the album Use Your Illusion I. It features a sweeping orchestral backing and is one of Guns N’ Roses’ longest songs. “November Rain” peaked at number 3 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart, making it the longest song in history to enter the top ten of that chart.

The narrative quality of the music video accentuated the epic nature of the song. The video (directed by Andrew “Andy” Morahan) portrays Rose marrying his then-girlfriend Stephanie Seymour, intercut with a live performance in a theater. Particularly, it can be noted for its large budget (about $1 million, including Seymour’s dress) and sweeping cinematography, which won an MTV Video Music Award for Best Cinematography. It is one of the most expensive music videos ever. Read more on Wikipedia.

NOVEMBER RAIN

When I look into your eyes
I can see a love restrained
But darlin’ when I hold you
Don’t you know I feel the same

Yeah

Nothing lasts forever
And we both know hearts can change
And it’s hard to hold a candle
In the cold November rain

We’ve been through this such a long long time
Just tryin’ to kill the pain

Oh Yeah

But lovers always come and lovers always go
An no one’s really sure who’s lettin’ go today
Walking away

If we could take the time
to lay it on the line
I could rest my head
Just knowin’ that you were mine
All mine
So if you want to love me
then darlin’ don’t refrain
Or I’ll just end up walkin’
In the cold November rain

Do you need some time… on your own
Do you need some time… all alone… Ooh
Everybody needs some time…
on their own… ooh
Don’t you know you need some time… all alone

I know it’s hard to keep an open heart
When even friends seem out to harm you
But if you could heal a broken heart
Wouldn’t time be out to charm you

Ooh-ooh-ooh–oh-oh-oh

Sometimes I need some time… on my own
Sometimes I need some time… all alone… ooh
Everybody needs some time… on their own… ooh
Don’t you know you need some time… all alone

And when your fears subside
And shadows still remain… Oh Yeah
I know that you can love me
When there’s no one left to blame
So never mind the darkness
We still can find a way
Nothing lasts forever
Even cold November rain

You’re not the only One
You’re not the only One

Don’t ya think that you need somebody
Don’t ya think that you need someone
Everybody needs somebody }3x
You’re not the only one
You’re not the only one

Don’t ya think that you need somebody
Don’t ya think that you need someone
Everybody needs somebody

Michael Jackson’s Smooth Criminal

michael_jackson

Smooth_Criminal“Smooth Criminal” is a song written by Michael Jackson and co-produced with Quincy Jones and it is the seventh single from Michael Jackson’s 1987 “Bad” album. The song contains a fast-paced beat intertwined with Jackson’s lyrics about a woman named Annie, who has been attacked in her apartment by a “smooth” assailant. It was released as a single on October 21, 1987, and peaked at number seven on the Billboard Hot 100. The song was adapted into a short film which was the centerpiece of the 1988 film “Moonwalker” starring Michael Jackson and Joe Pesci in the lead roles. The single has sold over 7.5 million copies.

Jackson originally wanted to make the short film in the western genre, but later decided to change it to a 1930s nightclub style. Film was shot between mid-February and April 1987. The video for “Smooth Criminal” is the first time Jackson unveiled his anti-gravity lean in which the performer has both feet planted on the floor and leans forward close to a 45 degree angle, creating the illusion that the performer is defying gravity. SMOOTH CRIMINAL

smooth1As he came into the window
It was the sound of a crescendo
He came into her apartment
He left the bloodstains on the carpet
She ran underneath the table
He could see she was unable
So she ran into the bedroom
She was struck down, it was her doom

Annie, are you ok?
So, Annie are you ok
Are you ok, Annie?
Annie, are you ok?
So, Annie are you ok
Are you ok, Annie?
Annie, are you ok?
So, Annie are you ok?
Are you ok, Annie? Annie, are you ok?
So, Annie are you ok, are you ok Annie?

(Annie are you ok?)
(Will you tell us that you’re ok?)

You’ve been hit by a smooth criminal

So they came into the outway
It was Sunday – what a black day
Mouth to mouth resuscitation
Sounding heartbeats – intimidations
