The Dance of Dragons

Episode S05E09: The Dance of Dragons. Directed by David Nutter. Written by David Benioff & D. B. Weiss. Original Air Date: June 7, 2015. Sinopse: In the midst of a snowstorm, Stannis’ camp is sabotaged when Ramsay’s men light fires to destroy his supplies. Melisandre is convinced that they need to make a good sacrifice to reach Winterfell, so Stannis reluctantly sacrifices his daughter Princess Shireen, burning her alive at the stake, while she desperately cries out for her parents. Jon and the wildlings return to the Wall, where their welcome is fraught with tension. Arya continues the mission to poison and kill the Thin Man when she sees Mace Tyrell and Meryn Trant arrive in the harbor to negotiate payment terms with the Iron Bank. Arya follows Trant to a brothel and when returns to Jaqen, she lies by telling him the Thin Man was not hungry and did not buy her oysters. In Dorne, Prince Doran agrees that Jaime can return to King’s Landing with Myrcella, but only if Trystane accompanies them and serves on the small council in Oberyn’s place. In Meereen, the fighting pits reopen and Daenerys is stunned to see Jorah fight for her forgiveness. Although he is successful, his triumph is interrupted by a fierce attack by the Sons of the Harpy, who quickly surround Dany and her supporters. Just as hope seems lost, Drogon arrives, and Daenerys mounts her dragon and flies away from Meereen, her followers and enemies watching alike in awe. Source: Wikipedia.

In Dorne

Jaime is brought before Doran Martell to explain his actions. Jaime reveals that he was sent to rescue Myrcella due to a threatening message sent to them from Dorne. Doran quickly realizes that Ellaria was behind the threat, and apologizes. In order to avoid a war with the Lannisters, Doran negotiates a deal with Jaime. In return for Jaime’s freedom and Myrcella’s return to King’s Landing, the Lannisters must allow Trystane to accompany them as Oberyn’s replacement on the Small Council.

Jaime: Prince Doran.
Doran: Forgive us. We started without you. Please, sit.
Jaime: Princess Myrcella.
Myrcella: Uncle.
Jaime: What a lovely dress.
Myrcella: You don’t like it?
Jaime: You must be cold.
Myrcella: Not at all. The Dornish climate agrees with me.
Jaime: Prince Trystane. How’s your jaw?
Trystane: A fleabite.
Ellaria: What are you doing in Dorne?
Jaime: Looking after the safety of my niece, the Princess Myrcella.
Doran: And rather than send a raven or speak to me directly, you decided to enter my country in secret and abduct our guest by force?
Jaime: We received a threatening message. The princess’s necklace in the jaws of a viper.
Myrcella: That necklace was stolen from my room.
Jaime: Oh, excellent. A last meal before the beheading?
Doran: Oh, I can’t behead you. Many in Dorne want war. But I’ve seen war. I’ve seen the bodies piled on the battlefields. I’ve seen the orphans starving in the cities. I don’t want to lead my people into that hell.
Ellaria: No, you want to break bread with the Lannisters.
Doran: And that is precisely what we are doing. Let us drink to Tommen, the First of His Name, King of the Andals and the First Men, Lord of the Seven Kingdoms.

Doran: King Tommen insists on his sister’s return to the capital?
Jaime: I’m afraid he does.
Doran: I cannot disobey my king’s command. She will return with you to King’s Landing. And my son Prince Trystane will accompany you both. If the alliance between the Iron Throne and Dorne is to continue, their engagement must stand.
Jaime: I accept.
Doran: One more thing. My brother was named to the small council before his death. Your father understood the importance of keeping Dorne in the fold. With Oberyn gone, Trystane will take his place on the small council.
Jaime: You have my word.
Ellaria: The word of a kingslayer. No wonder you can’t stand. You have no spine.
Doran: You are mother to four of my nieces, girls I love very much. For their sake, I hope you live a long and happy life. Speak to me that way again, and you won’t.

Jaime: May I inquire as to the fate of my man Bronn?
Doran: Tell me, Ser Jaime, in King’s Landing, how do they punish a commoner who strikes a prince?
Jaime: He said it was just a fleabite. The fault is mine. Bronn is merely a soldier following my orders. If anyone should be punished, it’s me.
Doran: Prince Trystane must learn judgment if he is to rule one day. I’ll let him decide.
Trystane: I have learned the value of mercy from my father. I’ll set your man free.
Jaime: You’re a good man.
Trystane: On one condition.
